There is a tomb attributed to Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad Bakir, the fifth of the 12 Imams, and a mosque named after him next to it in Imam Bakir Village, 3 km northeast of Harran. It is narrated that a severed finger of Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad, who participated in the conquest of Urfa and Harran during the time of Caliph Hz. Ouml;mar (in 639 AD), was buried here and a tomb was built on it, and the village was named "Imam Bakir".
